Mu-Theory
Aargh yes ... Mu-Theory, a bunch of middle aged dudes seeking to live out youthful rock dreams. My vision of recording and performing original complex pop tunes was shared by Ian Rutherford, Stuart Naylor, Chris Birchall and Pat Ferdinands (not forgetting our original bass player on first album, Ivan Bader). Ian brought us the love of prog - so we added a touch of that to our writing. Chris Birchall summoned the searing Gilmouresque guitar approach - lovely control. Stu Naylor added precision timing and a wise mind for music. Pat instituted the love and sex appeal only a bass player can provide! Oh and the need to play 5 notes when one would suffice :)
Seriously, we worked hard to make quality music, and the first three albums were lovingly recorded at Oaklands Studio in Nunawading thanks to our good friend Jarrad Gilson. I'll always be thankful for this band, I think for all the fellas involved, we realized childhood dreams of recording some quality tunes.
As a footnote - we tried to re-capture our sound on a fourth and then a half album as a recording only outfit - with me on bass and David on drums. The songs were terrific, though with little time spent together, the spark was not what we earlier represented.
